Glazed Maple Sweet Potatoes

1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
2. After scrubbing the sweet potatoes, use a very sharp knife and slice each potato in half lengthwise, and each half crosswise into 1" half moons.
3. Melt butter in a large ovenproof skillet over medium heat; add sweet potatoes and toss to coat evenly.
4. Then add maple syrup and sugar; bring to a boil, stirring frequently, approximately 10 minutes.
5. Place skillet in oven and cook, stirring occasionally, until potatoes are well glazed and tender when pierced with a fork, 15 to 20 minutes.
6. Remove from oven, season with salt and pepper; top with pecans.
7. Serve hot.
